Kawempe Decorous

Project Overview

Kawempe Decorous Nursery & Primary School is a real school in Kampala, Uganda, offering education from Nursery through Primary Seven. They needed a website that could clearly present their programs, admissions process, and school life to parents, while being simple for staff to maintain going forward. I was brought on to build the site from the ground up.

Key Features

• Clear program structure: Nursery-to-Primary-Seven offerings, curriculum, and admissions info organized into dedicated pages so parents can find what they need without calling the school.
• Admissions-focused CTAs: Prominent "Contact Us" and enrollment prompts throughout, since admissions run year-round.
• Photo-driven storytelling: A gallery section showcasing classroom learning, school facilities, and daily life to build trust with prospective families.
• Mobile-friendly layout: Built to work smoothly for parents browsing on phones, which make up the majority of the school's traffic.

Technologies Used

• HTML5: Semantic page structure across all sections.
• CSS3: Custom styling for layout, spacing, and responsive behavior.
• JavaScript: Navigation and small interactive UI behaviors.

Key Sections

1. Home: Hero introduction, head teacher's welcome message, and key differentiators (merit-based admissions, curriculum, educators, holistic development).
2. About Us: School mission and "Who We Are" overview.
3. Academics & Admissions: Curriculum details and enrollment information.
4. Gallery: Photos of classroom learning and school facilities.
5. Contact Us: School location, phone, and email for inquiries.
